16000 NASA employees out of work due to government shut down due to Trumps border wall.
A union representing federal engineers — including NASA scientists — has released a statement condemning President Donald Trump for the government shutdown. Approximately 95 percent of NASA employees have been furloughed. They won’t be getting any money from NASA until the shut down is over.
“The president falsely claims that “many” federal workers support the shutdown and have told him to “stay out.” We have not heard from a single member who supports the president’s inaction. Most view this as an act of ineptitude,” the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers said in a statement.
The government shutdown on Dec. 22. Approximately 800,000 federal employees are currently furloughed or working without pay.
There is little sign of reprieve for impacted federal employees. On Thursday, Trump said the majority of those workers were “Democrats.”
“Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?” he said in a recent Tweet. The president has demanded payment for a wall stretching along the U.S.-Mexico border and has refused to sign a bill funding the government unless the wall is paid for. This is damaging hard working Americans.
“If the president wants to gamble, perhaps he should go back to running casinos. A casino is where it’s commonplace for chips to be tossed around. Gambling with the lives of federal workers is not acceptable,” the IFPTE union said.
